The name Benton is an old family name. Our great grandmother’s maiden name was Roseanna Benton. She was from the “old country” as she used to say which meant Carencro. Louisiana. She was the oldest of 14 children, and she was quite a character. Our father loved his grandmother, and she was a feisty Cajun woman even into her old age.
Our father, Ed Hughes, bought the Pompano Club in 1978 and it has been run as a private dining club for the past 40 years. We decided to make changes after the flood and open our facilities to the public. We plan to have lunch Monday to Friday from 11-2. We will begin having Sunday brunch again after the first of the year.
